Large, sculptural walls envelopes this walk-up shophouse unit in the heart of a historic district that integrates form and function seamlessly. Designed as an office/entertainment space as well as a gallery space, a series of curved acoustic partitions flanks both sides of the main space and serve as a canvas for the owner to showcase his collection of art done by local past and present artists such as Chen Wen Hsi and Tan Choh Tee.

To create a visual balance, a combination of natural textures including warm, maple wood and rough grey travertino textured wall was chosen for the acoustic wall partition to create contrasting canvas for the owner to curate. To provide visual continuity and connectivity, large format Breccia tiles were used throughout to unify the space.

Influenced by the large, sculptural curved walls, materials that embodies natural elements are chosen to bring out its organic and tactility qualities to create an overarching warm invitation for the owner and guests as they enter. Greeted by a large circular skylight, the dining area creates a meditative, almost ceremonial space for tea session and entertainment.
