Located beside a busy highway, this three-bedroom apartment focuses on creating a safe oasis to accommodate a growing family with open and flexible spaces that can grow organically with the owners and their newborn baby.

Upon entering, the low timber ceiling that extends from the Foyer into the Kitchen area forms a clear demarcation between the fixed utility spaces and the flexible main living space. Full-height timber wall panels in the Foyer both smartly conceal the bomb shelter and study while creating a warm invitation upon entering.

The main living area comprises a series of interconnected spaces, including the Living and Dining areas, which are visually connected to the fully equipped open kitchen. The full-height timber frame creates a subtle demarcation, encouraging open conversations in the main living area.

To maintain openness while maximizing space use, a study niche was carved out and tucked into the corner, with full-height storage and open niches to enrich the space use.

The subtle contrast between timber panels, quartz, and stainless steel creates depth while incorporating functionality into the aesthetic treatment, even in the bedrooms. To maximise the existing walkway space between the wardrobe and bed, an open niche was wrapped with quartz to create a subtle interplay of materials, tying the entire house concept together.
